The Global Positioning System is a global navigation satellite system developed by the United States Department of Defense. It is the only fully functional global navigation satellite system in the world. It can be used freely, and is often used by civilians for navigation purposes. The GPS system is based on 24 satellites. They are set up, so four of them  are in the view of the earth atmosphere. The accuracy of GPS is greater than that of a base map.

There are several reasons why the GPS system is good thing. Firstly, it helps to avoid traffic. Several GPS systems have built-in traffic monitors that will automatically steer you around any bad traffic situations you might encounter. The GPS can give you updates on what the traffic is like where you are going, and can automatically adjust your directions to get you to your destination as quickly as possible. It’s very helpful for person, who lives in big city, because there are a lot of traffic jams, and the GPS system helps to find other ways to get to place which you want. GPS also speaks to that people and lets them know whether they missed the street they had to turn on, or how far to their destination.

Secondly, GPS system is good for Neighborhood Search. Many GPS devices provide the ability to search a desired location for specific landmarks, such as restaurants and gas stations within a specific radius to your current location. This functionality may help to determine the best places to stop during road trips or even day-to-day travels. Other landmarks often include hotels, museums, airports and other common areas of interest. It is important to remember that not all GPS devices will account for recent neighborhood landmark changes. Therefore, it is best to call a business for confirmation or to have a backup plan in place. Once, it helped me to find a mall, because I was lost and I had been in that city for the first time. And it was great when I took my phone and started to search that mall in the GPS system, and it really helped me.

Thirdly, it is helpful Fuel economy: If you want to maximize your fuel economy, you will need a good GPS system. Saving money at the pump as well as wear and tear on your vehicle should be one of the main reasons why you would want a good GPS system in your vehicle. Accurate driving directions not only will save your time in your daily travels, but also will save you substantial gas money when travelling from place to place. This is especially important for delivery and courier services. Managers can easily see that all employees are where they should be, refine procedures and even improve customer service as they can let customers know the location of an employee that is due to deliver to their house.
